Sammy is about 3 years old and we believe he is a Black Lab Australian Cattle Dog mix. Called a LATTLE DOG in "designer dog" circles. The two make a very handsome mix for sure. Sammy is shy and sweet. He is a true laid back country dog and so far he hasn't tried to herd anything....and that is a very good thing unless you are looking for a dog to herd your flock of sheep. He would like to live in a quiet and calm home with a loving owner. Being so laid back, Sammy and hyper-active bouncing off the wall dogs aren't going to be good friends, so if you have a jack russell already in your family, you might not want to bring Sammy into the mix... Sammy knows all of his house manners and he walks beautifully on a leash. He is going to make a wonderful companion to an active senior who wants to take walks every day - or for some lucky couple or single who wants a dog with a low energy level and a lot of love all bottled up inside him....He just needs you to open the bottle and let all that love out. After 6 weeks in his foster home, Sammy comes regularly for affection. He plays outside with the resident dogs and while he ignores the resident cats 99% of the time, you have to be aware that he has a prey instinct and he cannot be trusted not to chase your cats 100% of the time. If you have cats Sammy may not be the perfect dog for your family. His foster mom absolutely LOVES Sammy and she can tell you all about him. We at Hernando Animal Shelter look for loving homes for the animals in our charge. We know our dogs by name and treat them with loving care. Animals deserve to have a family of their own.
